Erasmus zu Ermgassen
I am Assistant Professor in Geography at the Earth & Life Institute, UCLouvain, where I work to improve the transparency and sustainability of food supply chains .
I co-run the Land Systems for Sustainability Lab at UCLouvain, am a senior researcher in the Trase initiative and co-founder of 'do Pasto ao Prato', a citizen science project and consumer-facing app which reveals the origin and impact of beef products sold in supermarkets across Brazil. I also lead the ERC-funded DOMESTIC project to map the Brazilian food system.
My research blends methods from geography, land system science, engineering, economics, and citizen science to map the supply chains which connect agricultural producers with urban consumers around the world. For more details, please see the "Projects" page.
I teach courses on 'Statistics in Geography' and 'Sustainable Urban Spaces'.
